\"\"Michelangelo Vasta is Professor of Economic History at the Department of Economics and Statistics of the University of Siena, where he serves as Deputy Rector for Research. He studied economic history, history of science and economics at the University of Oxford, where he received his D.Phil. His research focuses on the long-run dynamics of technological innovation and entrepreneurship, human capital, institutions and economic performance, and living standards. A distinctive feature of his work is the systematic use of historical datasets and quantitative methods to investigate economic development over the long run. He has published extensively in the major economic history journals, including Cliometrica<\/em>, Economic History Review<\/em>, European Review of Economic History<\/em>, Explorations in Economic History<\/em> and The Journal of Economic History<\/em>, as well as in leading business history outlets such as Business History<\/em>, Business History Review<\/em> and Enterprise & Society<\/em>. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Rivista di Storia Economica \/ Italian Review of Economic History<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Michelangelo Vasta \u00e8 professore ordinario di Storia economica al Dipartimento di Economia Politica e Statistica dell\u2019Universit\u00e0 di Siena, dove ricopre la carica di Delegato alla Ricerca di Ateneo. Ha studiato storia economica, storia della scienza ed economia all\u2019Universit\u00e0 di Oxford, dove ha conseguito il dottorato di ricerca. La sua ricerca si concentra sulle dinamiche di lungo periodo dell\u2019innovazione tecnologica, del capitale umano, delle istituzioni e della performance economica, nonch\u00e9 degli standard di vita.
